Kim Shults

Kim Shults is the Founder and Executive Director of Face in Water. She is a swim specialist at SwimKim LLC and lives in San Diego, California where she has been providing customized swim lessons for all ages and abilities since 1991. She is an innovator in swimming instruction for people with individuals overcoming water phobias and her successful record of aquatic breakthroughs inspired her to found Face in Water. Kim's mission is to help families create a healthy respect for and relationship with water. She has served as the Lead Swim Instructor on international outreach trips in Uganda, Honduras, and the Bahamian island of Eleuthera. Kim also has a California Teaching Credential in English and teaches TK-12 English Language Development online.
Alissa Magrum

Alissa Magnum runs Alissa Magrum Consulting, where she specializes in water safety, drowning prevention, and non-profit management consulting. She has spent the last 15 years working in water safety and drowning prevention and was the Executive Director of Colin's Hope for 13+ years. Alissa is a lover of water, a swimmer, and a triathlete. She holds a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership and Ethics. Alissa is currently serving as the Program Director for The ZAC Foundation, is working on a project with the American Red Cross, serves as the water safety advisor for the Austin Sunshine Camps, and serves on multiple non-profit boards including Face in Water and Mana O Maui. Alissa has been engaged in leadership positions at the local, regional, state, and national levels and served on a working group for the National Water Safety Action Plan. She has been fortunate to help organize and participate in 4 (so far) International Learn-to-Swim Outreach Programs to Honduras and Eleuthera, Bahamas through Face in Water. Alissa is honored to serve as the President of the Face In Water Board and is excited to be able to work with and support water safety advocates as well as families impacted by drowning- to work together to create a safer culture and safer communities around water for people of all ages, races, genders, socioeconomic levels, and swimming abilities.
Peri Kowal

Peri Kowal was lucky to grow up in a family that loved the water- they spent their time fishing and diving on the gulf or at the beaches and pools near their home. At one point in her teen lifeguard years, Peri's father told her, “You can’t be a lifeguard forever”! And despite enjoying many different careers in life, she always finds herself drawn back to the world of water safety and swim lessons. Over the years, she has taught many children to swim, both in a private setting and at the local public pool where she was a lifeguard. More recently, Peri coached adult triathletes in swimming, biking, and running and has been teaching some important “littles” in her life how to swim. This summer, Peri will return to the Bahamian island of Eleuthera, where she plans to share her skills as a swim coach and water safety advocate to teach in the pool and open water. She believes everyone should be able to safely enjoy the bodies of water in their environment and is honored to have the opportunity to work with Face In Water in empowering communities to foster a safe, healthy relationship with water.
Amy Anderson

Amy Anderson is a high school Physical Education teacher with a passion for teaching swimming and promoting a healthy love and respect for all of the amazing activities that can take place in and around water. Before embarking on a career as a teacher, she spent a good portion of her life working as a lifeguard and a swim instructor. When her now teenage children were young, she prioritized education around water safety and teaching them to swim at a very young age. She now channels her energy for being a water safety advocate to teach her high school students how to be proficient swimmers, make healthy choices around water, and be advocates for themselves in promoting water safety. Recently, Amy has been collaborating with local Bay Area educators to provide accessible and affordable swim lessons for underserved children living in her hometown. Fun fact: While she and her family love to vacation in warm tropical places where they can spend hours swimming, surfing, and recreating, they don't discriminate when it comes to enjoying water in all of its forms. They love frozen water and taking to the slopes to ski and snowboard in the winter.
Holley Stacy

Holley is a Private Banker with Arizona Bank & Trust and has been helping individuals and their families with their financial needs for over 20 years. Holley and her husband, Brandon live in Scottsdale, AZ and have a 14 year old son, Kai. Kai is a Hawaiian word meaning 'ocean' or 'water.' He started swim lessons when he was 6 months old and continued until he was 10.
In fact, from infancy, Auntie SwimKim taught him the importance of a healthy respect for the water. Arizona has one of the highest rates of pool drownings, so Holley sees first hand, year after year, the importance of water safety and education.
This is the main reason this work is so important to her. Holley is looking forward to working with and supporting water safety advocates in her community.
Jessica Brown

Jessica Brown is a passionate educator and fierce water safety advocate. Since 2016, she has blended her calling for education and knowledge of effective drowning prevention measures to impact families far and wide. In addition to her experience in planning and executing community events, graphic design skills, and social media antics, she has developed and implemented robust water safety curricula, both digitally and in person. Jessica has served as a member of the Central Texas Drowning Prevention Action Team, co-leading the Public Awareness working group within that team, has presented at the National Water Safety Conference (https://watersafetyconference.com/), and led water safety training sessions for countless community, educational, and government agencies across the state of Texas. Jessica is excited to continue advocating for water safety as a member of the Face In Water board
